Online Translation Agency in Sweden
The name Stockholm originates from “stock” – the Norwegian name for “log” and “holm” – island. Why island? That should be more than obvious, considering the geographical placement of the city sometimes also referred to as “the Nordic Venice”, due to its numerous islands and canals. Why log? You have to travel to Stockholm to really find out, opinions differ ranging from rational to mystic.
Stockholm is a multi-cultural yet Nordic city with one of the most prominent cultural scenes in the Scandinavian region. Venues like the Moderna Museet, Fotografiska, and the Vasa Museum will be a nice treat for any cultural gourmet.
Stockholm is also an excellent location for sports, particularly ice-hockey, bandy, and skiing. Popular ice-hockey teams like AIK and Djurgarden, playing in the renowned SHL (Swedish Hockey League) are based there. Other favorite indoor activities include badminton and table-tennis.
The leading industries in Stockholm are ICT, Fintech, and communications equipment production. Not to the extent as in the past few years, but still, economically the Swedish capital is on the rise.
Sites of interest
1. Djurgarden (“The Game Park”)
The island-park is a major recreation and cultural entertainment area allowing its visitors to leave decision-making for later and enjoy the stream of artifacts, historical buildings, and natural phenomena smoothly leading them from one part of the island to the next.
2. The Royal Palace
Sweden is a monarchy, same as its other Nordic cousins Denmark and Norway. The Royal Palace found in the very heart of the city, Gamla stan, is the official residence of the royal family and its operational activity started in 1754. Designed by Nicholas Tessin the Younger the 600-room baroque building is a must-see even for people quite indifferent to the values of the past.
3. Stockholm Old Town
The past defines the future. Leaving the Palace and wandering through the narrow cobblestone streets of the Old Town, then finding a cosy restaurant on your way with delicious food and drinks you are quite likely to come up with a few bright ideas for expanding your personal business empire in a sustainable and durable way and serving the society, as well.
